they're like a porcelain doll that is soft like skin unless broken revealing the clay insides as it is hard and shark inside and soft outside as an illusion from the living clay.

they can bleed since bones can bleed and have a crystal nervous system and organs, but no muscle or fat which is why they are mostly lightweight and have the ability to fly and usually have fairly the same build and body type since they're all the same.

they have very angular and sharp wings, most of them have diamond shapes of some sort, only royals having more rounder shape and there are only 5 royals currently in line of rotation, but you could make your own since it is a species and mine is just one small pocket.

they are a completely underground dwelling species mostly and harvest bones from the dead to create more of their own, infusing them with crystals made of thousands of year-old minerals infused with magical energy by soaking them in what is called the red well where they also collect the living clay.

they seem human unless their skin is cracked showing their bone, but the areas can be repaired to show what appears discoloured areas similar to scars, but if the area is broken, the fractured areas feel similar to that of clay pots, or porcelain in the areas that blend into wet clay and soon enough the soft skin.

there are four types of bone pixies.

Citizens, bone pixies that are the average citizen, this also includes those from the red-light district as even if they act different than average citizens, they are also only citizens.

Royals, which are the governing authorities have rounder wings, are very sensitive to sunlight and prefer moonlight similar to a vampire. The Emperor Moth is the first ever royal.

Tainted, bone pixies that have infected crystals infused with dark magic instead of a purer more controlled form of the revival magic, they appear to have cracks under their eyes and dark circles, their skin is much harder than a normal bone pixie and their wings are solid and sharp like glass, unable to move line wings but can shoot out of their backs like projectiles and can be places back by the wearer. socially they are treated like they have plague as their emotions make them tend to be much more aggressive sometimes violent and royals have deemed them a hazard and are killed on sight.

Sentinels, they protect royals and serve out their duties, they, however, do not have wings, have stronger skin like the infected but they are filled with stronger magic to help accommodate for no wings, they also tend to have larger crystals making them heavier, but stronger in all senses. They are guards throughout the city and are the personal protectors of the royals as they are mainly stationed in the castle.

all types of pixies are able to perform magic of some kind.

-Royals can manipulate the minds and memories of citizens and sentinels

-citizens can create more bone pixies by making clay dolls with human bones as the source, casting the bones in a mixture of crystal dust and underground stream water.

red light district citizens have the unique ability to product an addicting substance called honey that is also intrinsically to their religion which is right across from the red-light district. the two districts often have conflicting opinions on how to view the guardian gods' views on how things should be run. the red-light district insists pleasure and love as well as letting your mind wander are true peace of God while the church believes overwork, dedication, heavy worship, consumption, heavy deep loyalty to the community are the values that matter. both of these districts use honey but in differing ways of control, one is for control, and one is to be carefree.

-tainted are like a virus, no one knows where they come from, but they are growing and aren't going away. they spread by stealing people's crystals which is their heart and putting dark crystals in them, thus creating a new tainted and expanding their own life. a tainted can also expand their own life by stealing a human soul's bones and basically crushing them up and snorting them or by chugging their blood.

if a royal becomes tainted, they are killed via public execution. normal tainted are killed quietly and cleanly by the sentinels if a sentinel becomes tainted there aren't any precautions, as most believe the sentinels are immune, and able to kill any tainted but they pose a massive threat due to their extraordinary strength.

the plot

is that each underground pocket is a monarchy ruled by the current king queen or under royals such as prince or princess. each royal family sleeps in the castle mausoleum until it is their time to reign which each ruler rules for 100 years at a time. there are 4 guardians overruling kingdom, each represented by the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse. imagine giant bug monsters with bone body parts that are very thematic to each of their themes and tones, the real rulers are these guardians, they control everything and if you disobey you die, unless royal in which you are locked away and 'taught' to obey and if you refuse you are put back to sleep and your reign is ended. All of this was started by the very first monarch The Emperor who used to have humans worship him until he alone was sealed away in an underground tomb and guarded by four guardians who promised to never release him. The Emperor thrived in this underground reclusive place as he created the blood well, a place where all bone pixies are born and created a deal with the creatures keeping him trapped. He wouldn't leave as long as no one else does either.

escape is supposedly through the tunnels leading outwards, usually citizens if they wish to create a new bone pixie are led to graveyards through massive tunnelways by sentinels. this is where they rob the grave of the skeletons and bring them back. escape the sentinels and make your way through the tunnels and you'd successfully escape. humans oddly enough can also wander into these cave systems, where if discovered they are killed and hidden, never to be seen again. all pixies are accompanied by War in these tunnels so they cannot run to escape if they want to.

The Guardians

the royals to outsiders seem to be the head or on top but in reality, they are simply figureheads, and this is well known within the culture and community. everyone is more than well aware of the fact that the four guardians are the real leaders and rulers of this underground nation. There are four in total, but only three love their community.

Death raises, tutors, teaches, maintains and oversees absolutely everything that the royals do, they do not ever leave the castle as they are constantly on watch to make sure the royals are doing their duties keeping everyone in line and keeping the status quo going as well as making sure no one ever leaves the caverns. They are a black spider-like creature that looks like it is made out of spindly shadows and spikes. it has a skull marker on it's back indicating what it is.

War lives in the tunnels searching for victims to bring down to the community to assimilate into new bodies to use to create new citizens, sentinels and potential royals if any other royals are not working out. They are a bright red scorpion-like beast that has a red skull on their deadly tail. They have multiple pinchers to be able to grab multiple victims at once and drag them deeper into the caverns.

Famine is the most beloved socially and the most commonly interacted with out of all of the guardians. Unlike the others famine does not care for rules, nor do they care about keeping others in line unless they're helping them through lines of course! Famine hides underneath the very tiles of the city, a giant centipede that stretches underneath the pathway in a giant circle pathway that when famine moves, the path moves as well causing the mosaic tile to flip and change colours as the vibrations from Famine helps move the floor like a conveyor belt. Their legs look like bones due to the creature being all stark white.

Pestilence is the very core of the religion for bone pixies. They also have the least interaction out of everyone as they are permanently locked away into the basement of the church, their body torn apart, chewed up, decaying but still alive due to their nature. Their carcass was used and abused by the bone pixies who claimed to worship it, their body ravaged and torn asunder for what the bone pixies wanted, what helped them create honey in the irst place, the very flesh of pestilence. As a result, Pestilence has a deep residing grudge full of hatred towards the bone pixies and has slowly begun spreading a web of influence through the small bugs throughout the caverns, infecting them with their plan, as no one knows they are what is causing the tainted bone pixies to attack others, become violence and unstable to the point they go crazed for blood and life force due to their body's new addictions. Pestilence was at one point a praying mantis, but now they are simply the husk of one with its insides scooped out as the insides replace themselves due to healing creating an infinite supply of pain for Pestilence who only ants one thing. Revenge.
